Evynne Hollens is a Eugene-born-and-raised singer, writer, educator, and artistic director with a lifelong love of musical theatre, especially new works. She created and directs The Contemporary Songbook Project at The Shedd, which celebrates contemporary writers from Lin-Manuel Miranda to Jeanine Tesori and Jason Robert Brown and introduces Eugene audiences to Broadway’s newest works.
A proud member of Actors’ Equity, Evynne made her Broadway debut in Home for the Holidays at the August Wilson Theatre and has performed at New York’s 54 Below. She spent four years touring internationally and at sea with her husband, Peter Hollens, and together they co-created Voices, an award-winning a cappella show for Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas. Her music has drawn over 58 million views on YouTube. A former Duck, Evynne co-founded Divisi, the University of Oregon a cappella group that inspired “Pitch Perfect.” She performs frequently with The Shedd and the Eugene Symphony, where she hosts the Family Concert Series.
Evynne directs the Sheldon High School musical and teaches at her voice studio, Hollens House Studios, offering in-person lessons in Eugene. Alongside the high school and college singers she has long loved teaching, she especially enjoys working with adults reconnecting with their voices, whether they sang for years before life got full or have only ever sung in the car.
Closest to her heart is Mija, a bilingual musical inspired by a miraculous true story, created with Grammy winner Gaby Moreno, singer-songwriter Anna Gilbert, and playwright Rebecca Touriño Collinsworth. Mija has been featured in readings and workshops in Eugene, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Guatemala City, and San Diego, and was selected for the 2023 NAMT Festival of New Musicals. Above all, Evynne is a proud wife and mother who feels fortunate to share the stage with her husband, and hopefully soon, with her boys.
